Baden mobility package impresses expert jury and scores points in the public vote

On 27 September, Mayor Stefan Szirucsek and Deputy Mayor Helga Krismer received the "VCÖ Mobility Award Austria" in the category "Digitalization - Mobility as a Service and Sharing" for the "Baden mobil" package.

Mayor Stefan Szirucsek is delighted: "The city of Baden is delighted to receive this mobility award. The award proves that the innovative mobility offer that we have implemented in Baden together with the ÖBB 360° consortium meets the need for individual, quickly available mobility solutions and is absolutely on trend. With the ÖBB 360° team, we have a professional partner at our side."

Deputy Mayor Helga Krismer emphasizes: "Baden wanted an app for all mobility options, from scooters and bikes to cars. The EU-wide tender for a concessionaire was difficult, but our courage was rewarded, for which I am grateful.""With the ÖBB 360° mobility package, we are offering sustainable mobility solutions together with the municipality of Baden. These are designed to get residents of the municipality and their guests to their destinations quickly and flexibly, even without a private car.Winning the VCÖ Mobility Award shows once again that we have put together exactly the right package. We hope that many more municipalities will recognize the advantages of sharing offers," says ÖBB CEO Andreas Matthä.

The Baden mobility package with its combination of nationwide availability, a wide range of vehicles and the user-friendly central wegfinder app has proven to be a well thought-out concept, which has been offered by the municipality of Baden and its cooperation partner ÖBB 360° for a year and has been extremely well received. However, the Baden mobil service has not only scored points with users, but has also impressed the expert jury, which had to evaluate numerous projects as part of the VCÖ Mobility Award.

The process

The VCÖ Mobility Award Austria is awarded in twelve categories. Each submission is evaluated by a jury of experts from the fields of transport, environment and the respective category-specific special topic.

The expert jury evaluates the submissions in terms of: transport transition towards an ecologically sustainable, socially just and economically efficient transport system / reduction of energy and resource consumption / positive impact on other aspects such as health, social justice / innovation and potential for imitation.

The five best-ranked entries from the expert jury were put to an online public vote on the VCÖ website.

The category winner is determined by adding the expert jury's score and the additional points from the public vote.

With the VCÖ Mobility Award Austria, the VCÖ brings exemplary mobility projects to the fore that show that ecologically compatible solutions for future mobility already exist today and that it is possible to solve existing traffic problems in an ecologically compatible way. With this process, the VCÖ would like to encourage and help publicize exemplary projects, but also thank and recognize the teams of the award-winning projects for their work.

In order to inspire other municipalities, companies, schools, etc., the VCÖ has developed an online database in which exemplary projects can be searched for: https://mobilitaetsprojekte.vcoe.at/
