Carlsbad

Czech Republic

Karlovy Vary is the largest spa resort in the Czech Republic with a high concentration of natural thermal springs. The spa area extends over a deep, picturesque valley of the Teplá River, surrounded by a steep gorge with rocky outcrops and wooded hills offering impressive viewpoints.

This picturesque ensemble was created between the late 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century in the style of Historicism and Art Nouveau by the world-famous design studio Ferdinand Fellner & Hermann Helmer from Vienna, - great visionaries who foresaw the importance of Karlovy Vary.

In addition to the concentrated and compact spa hotels and guesthouses in the valley, the city is characterized by exclusive villa quarters on the slopes of the valley and in the more distant suburbs. The spa area is complemented by parks and forests with a number of outstanding pavilions, including observation towers and summer cottages, which are accessible by an extensive network of paths and cycle tracks.

Carlsbad is cosmopolitan, atmospheric and stylish. The spa clientele included European heads of government and royal families, aristocrats, statesmen and politicians, famous writers, composers and scientists. The international importance of the city is reflected in churches of various faiths.
