Baden owes its fine reputation as a city of music and operetta to the imperial court and, of course, the musicians. Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Strauss, Lanner - - they all sojourned in Baden for a summer retreat and were inspired by the lively social life, the vineyards and the delightful landscape of the Vienna Woods. Even today, cultural life in Baden is extremely lively and varied.
