Genussmeile - "the longest bar in the world"
Wiener Wasserleitungsweg is transforming into the longest bar in the world
Vienna Woods thermal region is transformed into the longest bar in the world - with free admission. From 6th to 7th and 13th to 14th September 2025, it's that time again!
"Da bleib ma picken", say the people of Lower Austria when they want to stay in the Wienerwald and enjoy the hospitality. No wonder, because where better to wander, taste and enjoy than on the Genussmeile in the Wienerwald thermal region.
The longest bar in the world conquers short vacationers on 15 km along the 1st Viennese water pipe footpath (1. Wiener Wasserleitungsweg) between Mödling and Bad Vöslau. About 80 winegrowers inspire their guests with wine, cider, storm and delicacies from the Vienna Woods. Tractor shuttles and slow trains from the train stations to the event make a relaxed excursion possible.
Hiking - Tasting - Enjoying
Every year on the first two weekends of September, the Genussmeile with its culinary stalls will once again invite visitors to stroll through the lush greenery. Quite typical for the region are its "Schmankerln", which gourmets can taste at the hosts of the Lower Austrian inn culture and at regional producers. A glass of must or wine is an absolute must on the hiking trail. Attention: With a glass of storm you should then toast yourself quite expertly with "Mahlzeit".
Whether you stay "picking" at a stand - until it gets dark - or explore the full length of the Genussmeile is entirely up to your personal freedom of enjoyment. In any case, entertaining hours with friends are guaranteed as you stroll through the vineyards. The Genussmeile opens Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 till 07.30 p.m. afterwards, a visit to the Heurigen of the region is a good idea.
The right section for every taste
Whether cozy with family and small children or in a celebratory mood with friends - the Genussmeile offers the right thing for every taste:
Bad Vöslau - Sooß - Baden: "Mach's da gmiadlich" (Section A)
This section of the Genussmeile is very easy to "hike" on foot or even with a stroller. The mostly flat path offers a lot of idyll, coziness and many opportunities to "stay pecking" with entertainment for the whole family.
Baden - Pfaffstätten - Gumpoldskirchen: "Do rennt da Schmäh" (Section B)
The middle section along the Genussmeile is the most frequented. In addition to musical and culinary highlights, numerous stalls with convivial hustle and bustle and delicious delicacies await visitors here.
Guntramsdorf - Mödling: "Do schau her" (Section C)
The hilliest section along the Genussmeile: Convince yourself here of the cozy stands, the distant view and dreamlike views of the landscape of the Vienna Woods thermal region.
