Kaiserhaus
Hauptplatz 17
This house was built in 1792 by Baron von Gontrad. Later it came into the possession of the Baron von Arnstein. Finally, it was bought by the court's agent on April 24th 1813 by order of Emperor Franz I. and converted into an imperial summer residence. It served as such until 1834, and from 1916 to 1918 the last Austrian emperor, Charles I, lived here with his family. He had the supreme command of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy relocated to Baden. The historically important meeting between Kaiser Wilhelm and Emperor Karl also took place in front of this "house of the Emperor".
