Kurhaus (1885)
today Casino Baden
The Kurhaus was built in 1885-86 on the site of the old Theresien and Ursprungs baths as well as the old pump rooms. In terms of function, it replaced the Redoutensaal (ballroom), which was demolished in 1908 to make room for the new Stadttheater. Nowadays, the Kurhaus serves as the Congress Casino, which was built in 1934 - as the first year-round casino - and moved to the present Kurhaus location in 1968; renovated in 2007, it is currently the second largest casino in Europe. The ballroom, which was altered in 1934, was returned to its original appearance in 1999.
