Methodical body movement on slightly ascending terrain for healing purposes first recommended by Professor Oertel (1887) in Munich based on scientific studies:

"The ground on which man moves offers more or less obstacles, depending on its nature, which must be overcome by anyone who wants to live on it. The constant overcoming of these obstacles to movement, to walking, becomes gymnastics, becomes a powerful and invisible force that not only creates healthy bodies but is also be used for reconstruction when the body has suffered damage. Actually, the nature of the ground is not use for healing purposes yet, although the gymnastics associated with overcoming the various terrain conditions, with walking, climbing and mountaineering both strengthens the muscular apparatus in general and, in particular, strengthens the heart and blood circulation.

The heart and blood circulation in a quite extraordinary way."
